Which Supplements Give Me More Energy?

Do you feel tired? Fatigued? exhausted? You’re not alone. A recent YouGov poll shows that Brits just aren’t feeling as energetic as they used to. It’s no wonder so many of us are asking “which supplements give me more energy?” when you look at these findings:

13% of us live in a state of constant exhaustion, feeling tired “all of the time.”

Another 25% say they’re tired most of the time, and 33% at least half of the time. Only 3% of people in the UK claim that they’re never tired.

And for certain people, it’s worse. One in five parents of children under 18 are tired all the time, 41% of 18-24 year olds say that tiredness has a great or moderate impact on their work, and a third of 24-49 year olds have their family lives impacted by a lack of energy.

We’re just tired, far too tired, far too often. And something needs to change. We can’t just drink endless cups of coffee, and work and social lives means that sleeping more isn’t on the cards for many of us. So let’s take a look and see which supplements can give you an energy boost.

The right supplements can help your energy production

Before we jump in, let’s make one thing clear. Taking a vitamin or mineral supplement isn’t like popping a caffeine tablet. You won’t be carrying a little bottle around with you to keep your energy levels topped up through the day.

What the right supplements will do is help your body work better. By requiring less energy to do some things, and improving the way you use the fuel you put into your body, supplements help your energy levels and energy production. Don’t think of it like putting petrol in your car. Think of it like improving the engine to make your car more fuel efficient.

To do just that, add the following supplements to your diet:

Vitamin B1 (Thiamin)

If you’ve been on a diet recently, you’ll have heard that carbs are the enemy. That’s not true. Too many carbs and the wrong type of carbohydrates (think processed flour, sugar, that kind of things) aren’t great for you. But your body loves to break down healthy carbs into energy. There’s a reason athletes swear by a big bowl of wholewheat pasta. To help your body turn this food into fuel, you need Vitamin B1 - Thiamin. You can find it in sunflower seeds, in lentils and in oats. Or you can find it in our Vitamin B-Complex supplement.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)

Your body doesn’t just use carbs for energy. With the right supplements, your body can break down proteins and fats into valuable energy to power your cells and organs - and the right balance of proteins and healthy fats can be crucial for building muscles. Like carbs, your body needs a particular vitamin to break these foods down. It’s also a B vitamin, in this case Vitamin B2 - riboflavin. You can find it in eggs, asparagus, soybeans and our B-Complex supplement.

Vitamin B3 (Niacin)

Another B vitamin for energy, and another one you’ll find in our B-Complex supplement. This time it’s B3 - niacin, a compound you’ll find in brown rice, red meat and oily fish. This vitamin helps your body release even more energy from carbs, fats and protein, and it helps your body create new cell membranes and hormones. And that’s key, because low hormone levels are a huge contributor to that feeling of tiredness.

Vitamin C

What makes you feel tired? Feeling unwell or run down. A healthy immune system is key to feeling energetic, and that’s why you need Vitamin C. Of course, Vitamin C does more than just boost your immune system - it helps you use energy better by improving your body’s cell health and playing an important role in converting all that food - that fuel - into useful energy. Stock up on oranges and lemons, or add our Vitamin C supplement to your daily regime.

And even as you supplement your diet with energy-boosting supplements, remember. There’s no substitute for the right healthy diet, and the correct amount of sleep. You can’t create energy out of nowhere, but by eating right and getting your eight hours a night, these supplements will help you feel more energetic, brighter, and less tired.
